Add macaroni to a pot of water, bring to a boil and cook until half-ready.
Toast the chopped onions until tender.
Add sugar and caramelize.
Combine tomato puree and chicken broth, put on a lid and cook for 10 minutes on low heat.
Blend with a hand blender, season with salt and pepper.
Spread the pasta in an oiled, fireproof bowl.

Add grated cheese.
Preheat the oven to 430 degrees F and cook for 15 minutes, until the cheese gets melted.
