Start off with the Linzer base. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and incorporate the butter.
Add the egg to the dough. When you have formed a smooth and dense dough, divide it into 3 equal parts.
Mix in the rum aroma and cocoa powder to one of the three portions of dough. Then roll out each layer of dough into the same size.
Place a plain layer of dough on the bottom, on which you spread apricot jam. Next place the rum and cocoa layer of dough on top and spread apricot jam over this layer as well.
Place the final layer of dough on top. Punch holes through the top layer with the help of a fork. Bake it for 30 minutes at 375°F.
For the top, blend together the egg yolks and the powdered sugar, until it’s light and fluffy. Then spread it on top of your cake, right after taking it out of the oven.
Decorate it with nuts before slicing it up to serve.
