Ingredients

Dough:
1 lb flour
7 ½ oz margarine
5 oz sugar
2 eggs
1 small cup of sour cream
½ packet of baking powder
1 pinch of salt
Milk
Filling:
1 cup of cherry juice
¾ cup of milk
1 packet of vanilla custard powder
Sour cherries
Bread crumbs
For the Top:
Egg yolk

Steps

Step 1
Sour cherry cake recipe: Preparing the Sour cherry cake is simple! First, combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.
Step 2
Add in the softened margarine.
Step 3
Knead together with the sour cream and eggs. Let it rest while you prepare the filling.
Step 4
Combine the cherry juice with the milk and start to heat it. You can add sugar according to taste.
Step 5
Thicken with custard powder.
Step 6
Add the sour cherries, stir thoroughly.
Step 7
Flatten half the dough, put in pan, poke holes in it with a fork and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. Then, spread the filling on it.
Step 8
Flatten the other half of the dough and place it over the sour cherry filling.
Step 9
Poke through the dough with a fork and brush with yolk.
Step 10
Bake at 390 degrees F for 25 minutes.
