Chess cake recipe: baking our Chess cake is simple. Firstly, combine the butter and the powdered sugar and mix until it is fluffy. Then one by one, add the 4 eggs and a bit of vanilla sugar!

Add the flour and a pinch of baking powder, then stir well.

Grease a cake pan and place a roll of aluminium foil in the middle, which will allow you to cook the two cake doughs at the same time. Spoon out half of the cake dough and spread it in one half of the cake pan. Put aside the other half of the cake batter.

Add cocoa powder to the leftover cake batter and mix it together. Then pour it into the other side of the cake pan. Then pop them in the oven for 20 minutes at 320°F.

When they are done, cut both cakes in half and place them on each other, one vanilla cake on top of a cocoa cake. Spread some apricot jam on them, before stacking them on each other. This will ensure that they are delicious and that they stick together! Place some sort of weight on top of it and let the cake rest for 2 hours.

After the two hours is up, cut up the cake into 4 long slices. Lay the slices next to each other, spread apricot jam over these as well, then place them on top of each other. Make sure that above each vanilla layer that there is a cocoa one, and above each cocoa layer that there is a vanilla one. You might need to flip 2 slices over in order to place them on each other. Again, place a weight on it before leaving the cake to rest for 2 hours.

Now all you will need to do is coat your Chess cake in melted dark chocolate.

When the dark chocolate has hardened, it is ready to serve!
