WATCH OUR VIDEO and try our recipe! One of the most well known cake of Austria, the Sacher cake. It’s a kind of chocolate cake, that’s made of two layers of thick, not too sweet chocolate cake, separated by a layer of very thin apricot jam.

Blend together the butter with powdered sugar.
Mix in the melted chocolate.
Add the egg yolks one by one.
Whip the egg whites with vanilla sugar and sugar until stiff.
Carefully fold in the whipped egg whites to the butter mixture.
Add the flour and baking powder.
Pour the mixture in a buttered and floured pan for 40-45 minutes at 360 degrees F.
Cut the sponge in half and spread apricot jam on it.
Cover the side with jam. Wait until the cake soaks up the jam.
Pour melted chocolate over the cake and leave it to set in a cold place.
