Start by making the sponge! Beat together the butter and powdered sugar, then also add the egg yolks and the vanilla aroma.
Add the flour and baking powder to the mixture as well, incorporating them fully.
Divide the cake into two equal parts, add a few drops of red food colouring to one of them, giving it a pink colour. Pour the cake batters into a baking tin, which is divided in the middle with the help of aluminium foil. Bake the cakes for 15 minutes at 345°F.
After the cakes have cooled stick them to each other with apricot jam.
Cut the cake in half, and cut the halves into half as well. Spread apricot jam on them and stick them cakes to each other, making sure that opposite colours are placed on each other. When you’re finished with this, you should have two separate cakes.
Roll out your marzipan and encase both of your cakes in a layer of marzipan. Then let them rest in the fridge overnight.
They will be ready to slice and serve the next day!
