Start by making the cake dough. Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder together. Then crumble in the butter.
Add the egg to the dough and combine everything well. Form a ball out of the dough.
Move onto the filling. Mix the ground almonds with the sultanas and lemon zest. Then pour the syrup on it, which you make by melting the sugar and water together.
Separate the dough into two equal parts and roll them out. Place one of the sheets of dough in your cake pan. Spread the filling on it. Cover it by placing the second layer of dough on top.
Coat the top with egg yolk wash. Punch through the top layer of dough with a fork several times. Bake for 35 minutes at 355°F.
After it is ready, let it cool a bit before slicing it up and enjoying this delicious dessert!
