First, mix together the dry ingredients for 1-2 minutes. You can use an electronic mixer for this, for the sake of having everything mixed perfectly.

Sieve the dry ingredients through into another bowl and put it aside.

Start beating up the egg whites, adding the white sugar to it continuously in small portions. Beat the egg whites until they are hard.

Add the vanilla aroma and stir it into the egg whites.

Now you can add the food coloring gel! It’s important to use gel because we don’t want our egg whites to have any water in it! It’s completely up to you what color you’d like to use.

It’s time to stir together the dry ingredients with the egg whites. First only stir together the egg whites with a quarter of the dry ingredients. Then you can slowly add the rest of the dry ingredients.

You will know the pastry is ready when you can draw a figure eight that doesn’t break at any point. When you can paint this figure eight, stop stirring.

Line a baking tray with baking paper. Pour the mixture into piping bags and on the baking tray pipe out similar sized circles. Pound the baking tray onto a table a few times, this will help ensure that the air bubbles get out of the pastry. Leave the macarons to rest like this for one hour.

Bake at 150°C for 17 minutes. Then leave them to cool completely.

While they are cooling, you can move onto the cream. Whip up the butter until it’s creamy, then add the powdered sugar to it. Mix well

Add the whipping cream, continue to mix.

Then the vanilla aroma, which will make your buttercream even tastier!

Now all you need to do is pipe some cream onto the macarons! Pipe a small ball of buttercream onto a biscuit
