Lemon Cake recipe: Preparing the Lemon Cake is easy! First, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, lemon zest and salt in a large bowl.
Beat together the butter, eggs, yolks and lemon juice in a different bowl.
Gradually add the floury mixture and premade buttermilk into the egg mixture. Mix until smooth.
Tip: Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of milk and let it stand for a couple minutes to make the buttermilk.
Pour the batter in a buttered and floured cake pan, and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. Let it cool down.
Move onto your lemon syrup. Add the sugar to water and bring it to a boil in a pot. Add lemon slices and cook for 25 minutes.
Then remove the lemon slices, set them aside and add the lemon juice.
Pour the lemon syrup over your cake.
Then spread whipped cream on top and decorate with the syrupy lemon slices.
